Valparai is located above 3500 feet sea level in Anamalai
hills range of western ghats. Valparai is also known as

HISTORY OF VALPARAI:
In 1846 Ramasamy Mudaliyar
started coffee estate in valparai. At the time of Ramasamy Mudaliyar ,in 1864
karnatic coffee company began coffee plantation
in Valparai. After 10 years because of loss and some other factors. At the
time of british east india company, hear that prince of wales(the future edward
vii) is coming to this hills,in 1875, the Britain soldiers built guest house and
roads and completed. Suddenly the prince of wales visit was cancelled .

Then after late 1890 wintill and norton bought a huge portion
of land from the madras sate government from the british raj. And the land they
checked the soil from which can be cultivated they found. After that wintill
deforested the whole place this also called as poonachi malai.

crawler marsh arrived from britain .he is also known as father of anamalai’s
or father of Valparai, at the time of job his salary is about 250 rupees.

estates, this place is famous for midst and coldest place. This place also
ranks second after the Chirapunji because of rainfall in chinnakallar area.
