Patteshwarar Temple:
If we go through Brooke bond and Siruvani Road it takes 9.4 kilometers to reach Patteshwarar Temple approximately travel time will be 25 minutes. Another route via Perur bypass Rd and Siruvani Road it takes 12.4 kilometers to reach Patteshwarar Temple approximately travel time will be 30 minutes.
Narathar gave advice to kamadhenu go to dhakshana kailash and continue the prayer to the Lord surely you will get the boon. As per Narathar guidance kamadhenu went to dhakshana kailash which is the Patteshwarar.
Patteshwarar Temple is located at Perur in Coimbatore district. We can reach this temple from Ukkadam bus stand or Gandhipuram bus stand. From Gandhipuram, Patteshwarar Temple is 8.5 kilometers away. And it takes nearly 24 minutes to reach the temple via Siruvani Rd.

And this magnificent temple was built by Karikala Cholan in 2nd century. Perur temple’s main deity is Patteswarar and Pachainayaki Amman. The temple architecture here is really wonderful and unique.
Patteshwarar Temple has the main attraction "kanaka sabha", where the beautiful golden statue of Lord Nataraja located. The temple devotees has a famous belief that mortal remains and ashes of dead people are turned into white stone in the temple after a period of 144 days. Temple has various pillars and halls with Lord Shiva sculptured with different posture.
Saint Sundarar is said to have visited the temple and sung songs in Thevaram about Lord Shiva, ninth century AD. The Chola rulers from the period of 11th to 13th Century AD has given huge donations and many gifts to the temple. So they built ArdhaMandapa Hall and Mahamandapa Hall to inscribe the details of the donations and presents given by them.
The Panguni Uthram festival that falls in the month of March is considered to be the major festival of the temple. During September locals celebrate the festival of dance Natyanjali, bharathanatiyam dancers perform in the temple premises.
The temple is centre of attraction to display tradition and culture of Tamil Nadu.
Inside the temple premises has a palm tree that never dies (known as Irava Panai) and the tamarind tree whose seeds never germinate (known as Pirava Puli).
Explaining the fascinating cycle of birth and death. Just like the trees, the temple itself, with its rich history, seems to exemplify the philosophy SAMSARA – the endless cycle of creation and DESTRUCTION, the reason for permanent existence of Nature.

There is Hindu mythology of this temple related to purana. Lord Shiva self manifested as lingam with a foot mark of calf in head. When one time lord brahma stopped creation and thinking something that time Lord vishnu come to known this in order to continue creation activity.

Lord Vishnu approached kamadhenu, which is a sacred cow in heaven. Lord Vishnu asked kamadhenu to do deep penance to get boon for creation from Lord shiva.
As per Lord vishnu's wish kamadhenu went to kailash and do deep penance for several years penance went on. Best Lord shiva didn't come to know kamadhenu. Meanwhile rishi narathar came to kailash and saw kamadhenu is doing penance to Lord Shiva.
Narathar gave advice to kamadhenu go to dhakshana kailash and continue the prayer to the Lord surely you will get the boon. As per Narathar guidance kamadhenu went to dhakshana kailash which is the Patteshwarar.
Kamadhenu went and started praying to the Lord shiva. One day kamadhenu with son Patti planned to holy bath Lord shiva on that time mistakenly Patti kept foot on Lord shiva head. And kamadhenu got angered and try to punish son Patti, in order to protect Patti Lord shiva with infinite love appeared before Kamadhenu. And Lord said I will have the foot mark of Patti in my head as boon. And so this temple name came to know Patteshwarar.
And Lord said I can't give the boon of creation because this place is holy which free from cycle of birth. And so instead of boon Lord showered blessing and given the vision of Lords dance thandava.
To attain immortal and free from cycle of birth we need to pray to Lord Patteshwarar
