Parambikulam Tiger Reserve Anamalai Hill



Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is situated in Sungam hills, which comes in between the Anamalai ranges and Nelliyampathy Hills.

Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is about approximately 40 kilometres away from Pollachi.Through Ambarampalayam via Sethumadai Road and Parambikulam Road, We can reach Parambikulam Tiger Reserve in 1 hour 17 minutes. Parambikulam Tiger Reserve covers the land of 369 acres looks incredibly greenery.

On 1900 Britain built trampoline transport to loot the teak wood from forest and send to thier own country. After independence in 1960 Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is established. Also government banned tree cutting in this forest and  made this forest as reserved forest and highly protected.

The major attractions for tourists are big cats Leopard and Tiger, Leopard is most often seen, but Tiger sometimes seen nearby. Most often Tiger will be live inside the deep forest. Also we see mammals like elephant and Bears. Famous tree in the forest is Kannimara tree which is 40 years old. Still tribes are living inside Parambikulam Tiger Reserve they are Kadar, Malabar, Mala Malasar, and Muduvar.

Tourist are allowed only allowed with experienced forest guide. Parambikulam night stay, camp is available, also for staying tree huts and houses are also available.

For Trekking karimala gopuram and vengoli peaks are mostly used for Trekking purpose. There are three dams Parambikulam, Thunnakadavu and peruvaripalam and inside the forest that has river named as Parambiar river. Row boats are available for hiring at Thunnakadavu. Also some times crocodiles are spotted.

Tourist often taken through safari vehicle to see the reserve forest. Often endangered species Nilgiri Tahr is spotted here.
