Akkamalai grass hills is 16 kilometers away from Valparai. And it's about 41 minutes away from Valparai to reach Akkamalai grass hills. Always every 30 minutes bus towards Akkamalai is available near old bus stand or pallaya bus stand Valparai.

Akkamalai Grass Hills mountains is located in Valparai range, which is the abode of the Nilgiri Tahr, Nilgiri Tahr are known to be native of Akkamalai grass hills. At the high elevations, these are grass covered slopes with boundary forests. Which is like Similar to the "shola - grasslands" of the Nilgiri mountains.

The mountains make for an imposing view and can be seen from almost anywhere in Valparai. The "Grass" is not your typical soft lawn type of meadow. These grasslands are  tough grass of the type used by the Nilgiri Toda tribals as used for their houses. Animals you could see like Nilgiri langurs and big cats like tiger, cheetahs and elephants, bison, long tail monkeys, chimpanzees.The area is also rich in bird life, mostly you could see Hornbills etc.

The Grass Hills are a protected and restricted area. Intending visitors require a permit from the Forest Department at Attakatti. After you obtain a permit, you will have to hire a jeep and a forest ranger will accompany you for the trip.

Even if you do not get that permit, you can get quite near the Grass Hills by public bus, taxi/auto or your own vehicle from Valparai. It is very scenic and well worth the effort.

If you want to go to grass hills get proper permission and it's worth for site seeing. At least you need to spent 4-5 hours in grass hills. You could hire tata sumo or jeep from Valparai. Jeep is the is the best vehicle to travel to grass hills, road is not good and also covered vehicle is good due to animals you can always see there.

By walk you want to go means it is safe to go with group of peoples. So you could not face any danger. While you going lot of fruit trees you can see, so chimps are so playful.

Some times the grass will grow above your head most probably in rainy season it starts growing. And don't go in rainy season grass height will be high so its dangerous if animal inside the grass hills you couldn't able to see because of predator like tiger, leopard. Mostly from June to September rainy season so place will look muddy and almost leeches will high. It follows the mechanism of mosquitos leeches will suck human blood.

Inside the grass hills apart from animals you could able to see mango shaped forest and apple shaped for forest. The small forest boundary layer look like exactly mango and apple. And also there is naturally originated river which flows like zig zag Manner. It is also known as "konal arru".

Exactly plan and go, you will enjoy the journey and you can spend one day inside grass hills. Also a bungalow inside the grass hills you can check with forest department when you get permission.

Balaji temple Valparai

Balaji temple in Karamalai Estate 

Balaji temple is located in karamalai estate. From Valparai balaji temple is 15 kilometers away from Valparai. Travel time nearly 30 minutes from valparai and these various landmarks are Nadumalai estate at the start and next pachamalai estate and karamalai estate  and before the entrance of karamalai factory the two way will be there in that choose the upper side way and through that way nearly 3 kilometer to the temple. The last balaji kovil stop before two way will be there and through the upper side you must go and in which the place for parking will be there go and after that you must go through that way by walking. And camera’s are not allowed in that temple it is the beautiful view at the top from the balaji hills.

This temple first god is balaji his statue is fully made of Gold. This temple has the surrounding with different gardens. Every year the owner family come to this temple and celebrate the festival with workers of the estates around this temple nearly there are six estate people will come here and celeberate the festival that time they will get two to three days leave.

 

Now, this place is famous for tourist coming from outside. The other way to this temple is while coming from Pollachi . In between the the short cut way will be from before entering to Iyerpadi in this way its less than 20 minutes you can reach the Balaji temple without going to the Valparai town itself.

Pancha Mugha Vinayakar Temple Valparai

Pancha Mugha Vinayakar Temple:

Pancha mugha vinayakar temple is located in the Mudis estate region. From Valparai its about 20 minutes to travel.

Nallamudi Pooncholai View Point or Number Parai View Point

Nallamudi Pooncholai View Point:

Nallamudi pooncholai is located about 10 stops from Valparai. Its about 10.5 kilometers away from Valparai. Nallamudi poonchollai is the view point and it’s a way through  sholayar dam we can go to the Nallamudi pooncholai view point.

This about 3500 feet above the sea level the view from here is different as compared other places. Nilgiri tahr is the one of animal of Tamilnadu state government. In Nallamudi Poonchoolai you can View the Nilagiri Tahr here very often. While your going you can also see the bison’s and various animal. 

The view  from the top you can also notice all under our feet. This top the midst always you can see from here. This place is full greenery view you can get. There is one of the falls are also viewed and it is beautiful to see from the top of the place. View point is different here you can enjoy the reality of the nature. It will be a great experience for you. 

The view of the Nallamudi View Point is awesome feel like you are floating in midst. The Road is little bit worst and Nallamudi Poonchoolai is one of the best Place for spending time.

Karamalai Irachi Parai Falls Valparai

Karamalai Irachi Parai Falls:

Karamalai Irachi Parai comes under the Karamalai estate and which is situated opposite to the velankanni church another view we will get, from Karamalai its nearly 2 kilometres to reach irachi parai falls. Near the velankanni Church you can see the river flows which originated under this falls. 

Its about 27 metres and small falls and some of the beautiful places comes under this area. You can also see the various famous animals in this place.

The falls full capacity of water flows in the rainy season, you can’t swim or take bath in this falls. but you can view its beauty, from the top and which is so beautiful to watch and so slippery ,you must be careful in this place. You should ask to people when your going whether any animal is there or not. Ask the people of the estate they are friendly and helpful. 

You can also see the wild bison's and the elephants in this area, enjoy the wild nature through on the way. And season for this place is on the rainy season is the best season to go through this way. You can view both the sides are look greenery and waterfall also full flowing time from June to august is the best season to go to the irachi parai falls.
